I need to connect multiple local networks printers to the network -- what do I do?
There is a special procedure for setting up multiple Wi-Fi or LAN printers on the same wireless network. The process is the same regardless of whether you’re using a Wi-Fi or LAN printer.
First, you'll need to find out the IP addresses for each of the printers you want to connect.
You do this by turning the printer off using the switch on the left side of the printer. Once the lights are all off, hold down on the “Feed” button on the front of the printer, and while holding it down, turn the printer on. Keep holding the button down while three slips of paper print out. You want to keep hold of the final one.
Next, go to your iPad’s web browser, and enter the IP Address listed on this slip of paper in to the address bar. This will take you to the settings page for that printer.
Then, you need to log in using the following details:
- Username: root
- Password: public
The website will prompt you to change the password. Don’t do this, because it means that our support team will not be able to log on to your printer should they need to do any troubleshooting. Just press “Cancel” when it says this, and you’ll go to the next screen anyway.
Press the link marked “IP Parameters.” Then select the first button, marked “Static” to enter a custom IP address for your printer.
Your IP address should follow the format 192.168.0.XXX, where XXX is a three digit number less than 255. Enter a custom IP address for that device and press “Submit.”
When you’re doing this, it’s important to make sure that you don’t use the same IP address twice. Each IP address should be unique, because otherwise it can cause the router to confuse devices, meaning none of the devices using that address will work. Make sure that the number you choose to replace XXX is not in use anywhere else on the network (your iPad, phone, or a speaker, for example).
Next, go back to the sidebar and select the next link down, “System Configuration.” You’ll need to change the settings on this page to the following:
- Web Refresh Interval Time needs to be set to 30
- #9200 Multi Session needs to be set to “ENABLE”
- #9100 Data Timeout needs to be set to 30
- Disconnect Message needs to be set to “ENABLE”
Then, press “Submit” and press the flashing red “Save” button in the sidebar to save your changes. Select “Save → Configuration printing → Restart device” and press “Execute” to print a test receipt with your network details.
Rinse and repeat for the rest of your printers.
